Top 10 Ways We Sabotage our Training Program

1. We don’t fully appreciate our strengths and are easily discouraged by our weaknesses.

Too often when we workout we focus on our challenges, not on our strengths. We obsess about any weakness we may have and make our journey towards reaching our goals more challenging than it has to be. Instead of identifying what’s great with our particular circumstances, we emphasize what’s especially difficult for us. For example… “I can’t build muscle as easily as others because of my genetically skinny frame”, “I can’t get lean because I have a slow metabolism”, or my favorite “I’m naturally big boned”.
There is no need for excuses; we have to strive to be the very best version of us regardless of genetic limitations. We all have weaknesses; we just need to simply create plans of attack to systematically overcome them. Our job is to make the most of what we have been given. We must consistently focus on the gifts we have not on the ones we don’t.

2. We expect too much progress far too soon!

No matter what we have become good at in our lives is surely didn’t happen for us in a matter of weeks or months, heck maybe even years. We quite naturally experienced detours that included just as many defeats as victories. Our journey to success has had many ups and downs along the way. To be great at something requires us to be a lot of things. We have to be persistent, we have to be consistent in our efforts, and the journey to develop and reach our goals will pose some challenges.
We all know that the quest for superior health is a lifetime adventure, but succeeding requires the same mental skills. We have to always expect the best from our efforts. Do not get discouraged if we don’t get the results we want as soon as we want them. Results are never good enough; it’s a big mind game. Just because we don’t have those results now doesn’t mean that we won’t experience them later with time and effort. We just need to be careful and not give up if our results do not come soon enough. Be consistent and persistent and your hard work will pay off.
