ExerciseWhat is the best exercise to tone up my arms?

The arms will respond very well to high reps of the basic bicep curl and tricep extension. Make sure your body is stiff and tight with your elbows locked into position. You should also alternate hand grip from close to wide.

What is the best Ab exercise?
You want to move in a crunch type manner and always work the abdominal muscle until total fatigue. Rest for 30 seconds and repeat as reps will shorten with each set. 6 sets 4 days a week is ideal.

What is the best way to reduce body fat?
Quick burst of speed at 100% output for short distances is the most effective cardio activity. Rest 30 seconds and go for 10 sets per workout session for greatest results.

Are there Refunds if I decide to quit?
There are no refunds for personal or group training sessions. This will help hold you accountable on those “I’d rather not go train today” days.

What is the first session like?
During the first session I accurately assess your fitness level, I then set up a program specifically designed for your needs and goals. We do actual training during the first session to give you an idea of the level of intensity in which we train.

What can I expect from you within a session?
Each session lasts approximately 40 minutes. I put emphasis on shorter/high intensity workouts. This entails various cardio and weight resistant drills with unlimited elements of surprise. I will always give you a reason to show up for your sessions, help you track your progress, keep you motivated, guide you towards meeting y our goals, educate you on strength training, cardio, and basic nutrition. Bust most importantly of all hold you accountable for your actions during and outside of training.

Do you train in groups?
I actually encourage you to find a training partner (‘s). Training with a partner gives you an extra push towards motivation and holding yourself accountable.

Can you come to my location to train me?
Yes, for groups with a minimum of 4 people and within a 10 mile radius of McKinney.

I have some nagging injuries/joint problems. Can you help me?
Yes I can design a program to help your nagging injury therapeutically while continuing to train you in a safe manner to obtain your desired goals.

Do you work with Children?
Yes I work with children from age 6 and up. We train in the areas of Self Esteem, Speed, Agility, Flexibility, Coordination, Motor Skill Development, Weight loss, Conditioning, and overall Fitness.

Can I lose weight fast with you?
Your work ethic combined with the time in which you put into your training will be the ultimate factor to how much weight you lose and how fast.

How is a training session with you?
Training is catered specifically to your needs. Each session is hard and challenging, but at the same time never overwhelming.

Where do you train?
I train at various outdoor locations with Town Lake in McKinney being my primary outdoor location. I also train in my home gym in McKinney.

I make personal training affordable in efforts of establishing a long term program . This gives me the time needed to assist you with meeting your goals. You will also have learned how to motivate yourself and use the tools that are needed to continue a lifestyle of healthy living.

What sets Ty Cardwell a part from other Trainers?
My specialized style of training will be one like you have never seen before. My ability to keep you motivated and hold you accountable. As a trainer you have to look the part and I do. I am also the only trainer that participates in the actual training with clients and is completely hands on.

Nutrition

Why do I get tired during the middle of the day?
This usually happens when people skip breakfast and over eat at lunch. The blood sugar then shoots up too high and excess insulin is produced to bring it down and in turn brings it down too low. We cannot over eat during any meal.

If I exercise without eating will I burn more fat?
No, you will burn lean muscle tissue.

If I eat something I shouldn’t should I skip the next meal?
No, we will stumble at times but we can never skip a meal.

If I’m not hungry should I skip a meal?
No, never skip a meal because you always need to maintain your blood sugar level. This prevents the body from storing body fat.

Why is Caffeine not good for you?
Because it is a stimulant that over time burns out your Adrenal Glands. It also displaces water from the body and cause dehydration. Excessive caffeine use over a long period of time will decrease your energy levels.
If I eat at night will I gain weight?
No, your digestive tract works the same way 24 hours a day. However when you eat sugar and fats such as Ice Cream and Cake later in the day it will turn into fat because that it what it is after all and you have zero chance of burning these excess calories during rest.

What is the key to being successful with Diets?
Dieting is a way of life in which your pattern of eating consists of healthy meals and snacks 5 to 6 times per day to avoid band eating habits; preparation is the single biggest key factor.

What is the best way to lose fat from my midsection?
You cannot lose fat in one specific area. Fat is lost overall in proportion to the body.

Should I cut out carbs?
No carbs are your fuel. Although you should reduce them on days in which you do not train.

What supplements should I take?
I only recommend protein supplements on training days before and after the muscle is broken down. Vitamin & Minerals are also great.
